Originally established in High Holborn in 1886, Moerans moved to Edgware in 1938 and has since been run as a vibrant family firm with a reputation for personal service and quality.
The firm has over the years been involved in many areas of law but now specialises in Private Client areas, including Wills, probate and Court of Protection matters.
The practice continues to be managed on the basis of the traditional values that have been the cornerstone of Moerans for over 125 years. By combining the principles of personal care and attention, matched with the highest levels of professional expertise and the latest technology Moerans offers a unique service that ensures a superior experience for its clients and partners.

Simon Shaffer
Managing Partner
Simon Shaffer is the Managing Partner of Moerans as well as being a hands-on lawyer who specialises in Wills, Trusts, Inheritance Tax planning and Court of Protection matters.
Simon is also a New York attorney and, in this capacity, he works with attorneys throughout the US, when they are acting on behalf of Trusts or Estates with UK assets. In addition he regularly acts for British citizens purchasing properties in America.
Simon is a regular speaker at conferences in the United States, lecturing on all aspects of UK law as it affects older people.
Paralegal
Gabriella Shaffer joined the firm on a full time basis in January 2014 having worked for Moerans on and off since 2005. She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners our Will writing paralegal meeting with clients both in the office and their homes and assisting them with their Wills and Powers of Attorney.
“I have a BA (Hons) in Criminal Justice, an MA in Forensic Psychology and prior to joining Moerans on a full time basis was a forensic psychologist working on Rikers Island in New York and then at Spanish Peaks Mental Health Centre in Pueblo, Colorado.”
Paul Mendelsohn
Consultant
Paul Mendelsohn joined the firm as a consultant in 2008 having previously practised privately since qualifying in 1986. Paul is an experienced civil and commercial litigator undertaking work in many areas and having appeared in many different forums.
Office Manager
Doreen Bolan is the firms’ Office Manager. She joined the firm in 2007 as our part time bookkeeper and has progressed to now not only looking after the accounts, but also the day to day general administration of the practice.
